The Marlins' offense stalled in the later innings, leading to a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Reds. Michael Lorenzen picked up his third win on the season while David Phelps dropped to 4-4.
The scoring began in the top of the first; Dee Gordon and Derek Dietrich each singled, leading to a Giancarlo Stanton RBI groundout, bringing Gordon in to score.
However, it wasn't long until Cincinnati struck back. In the bottom half of the frame, David Phelps walked Joey Votto. The next batter was Todd Frazier, who clubbed a line drive homer to right field, giving the Reds a 2-1 lead.
