Miami’s minor leagues remained active while the Marlins were busy, with six games and eight transactions.
Ryan Newell
Newell got a late start to the season due to injury, and made his debut in relief on July 5th for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. He appeared in a total of nine games, striking out eight in 10 innings while allowing a .341 opposing batting average. Earlier today, he was placed on the seven-day disabled list retroactive to August 6th. Newell has been part of the Miami Marlins organization since getting drafted in the seventh round of the 2012 amateur draft.
