RF Garrett Cooper activated from the 60-day DL. Before today’s game, he was one-for-seven in four games with the Miami Marlins earlier this season. In the second game of the season, he was hit by a pitch on the right wrist and taken out, as the Marlins defeated the Chicago Cubs, 2-1 in 16 innings. He played two more games, aggravating his already irritated wrist.
After two months of downtime, Cooper was sent to the minor leagues for a rehab assignment. In nine games with the New Orleans Baby Cakes and two with the Jupiter Hammerheads, he was 11-for-33 with a double, a homer, and five RBI.
