Alejandro Mateo is a 6’2″, 200 lb. right-handed relief pitcher from Hialeah, Florida, population 239,673. Eight major leaguers have originated from the town, including Gio Gonzalez and Manny Machado.

Mateo was born on January 18th, 1994, and later attended Monsignor Edward Pace HS in Miami. He then matriculated in succession to three separate colleges, Broward Jr College, Point Park, in the NAIA, and Nova Southeastern, a Division 2 school.
