Osiris Johnson, one of the youngest players in the draft (he’s only 17-years-old) was chosen by the Miami Marlins in the second round. Chosen 53rd overall, the 6′, 181 lb. shortstop from Alameda, CA is the cousin of Jimmy Rollins. Johnson signed for his assigned slot value, $1,318,500. He reported to the GCL Marlins, and went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run in his professional debut today.
In fact, Miami’s first four picks of the 2018 draft batted 1-2-3-4 in the GCL Marlins 14-9 loss to the GCL Mets today. Aside from Johnson, Connor Scott was 0-for-2 with a walk, Will Banfield went 1-for-4 with a double, a run, and two RBI, and Tristan Pompey was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.
