Last weekend was not the first time the Marlins considered firing Mike Redmond. According to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro, the Marlins strongly considered firing Redmond after the club was swept by the Mets in April.
Redmond indeed almost was dismissed after the Marlins were swept by the Mets at Citi Field in early April. One of the voices to stop it from happening was the general manager — Dan Jennings.
