Although the Marlins were considered to be out of the playoff race by the beginning of July, the club finished on a high note with a 18-12 record over the final month of play. The only negative thing about finishing strong is that it diminished their 2016 draft position, which ultimately ended up slotted at number seven overall.
Arguably the biggest surprise of the Marlins season was the performance of Justin Bour, who went from being an early season call-up to being the early leading candidate for the starting job at first base in 2016.
