Good morning, Marlin Maniac readers and welcome to Morning Catch, the daily morning news and notes column from MarlinManiac.com about your Miami Marlins.
In a short start by Jose Fernandez in his return back to the Marlins, Miami’s ace impressed, dealing five innings of shutout ball to lead the Fish to a 2-0 win against the Washington Nationals.
Jose allowed just two hits in those five innings, striking out seven and lowering his ERA to 2.06 on the season. From there, the Marlins bullpen shut down the Nats, surrendering only one hit in the final four innings.
