With Edwin Jackson landing on the DL mere minutes after I claimed the Miami Marlins were going into week three healthy, I am beginning to wonder if my injury reports are bad luck.
Sports superstitions vary in depth and intensity. Baseball fans are particularly superstitious, it is in our nature. For example, some of us wear the same jersey when we watch a game believing it may affect the outcome (guilty). However, sometimes, superstitions can feel like actual realities. As franchises suffer decades-long hardship, curses are often the only logical explanation for a team's struggles.
In baseball lore, there have been four significant curses, two of them now broken:
- The Curse of the Billy Goat
- The Curse of Ricky Colavito
- The Curse of the Great Bambino (Broken)
- The Curse of the Black Sox (Broken)
And now, a fifth may be brewing right here at Fish Stripes.
