Miami is not in a position to make the playoffs and as a result might not be in a hurry to make any immediate call ups. Rosters expand on September 1 but the Marlins did not make any roster moves before game two against the Braves in Atlanta.
Although the Marlins have not been notably active with regard to adding players to the roster in the past, the organization might benefit from having additional depth. Several Marlins starters, including Jose Fernandez, David Phelps, Jose Urena, and Henderson Alvarez are all on the disabled list and as a result Miami has turned to its younger arms.
