For now, the Miami Marlins will have All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto under contract for the 2019 season. The two sides agreed to a one-yera deal woth $5.9 million, which is a $3 million raise from last season. What the decision on the 27-year-old’s new deal did not do was guarantee he would be part of the Marlins organization the entire season.
Realmuto hit 21 home runs and knocked in 74 RBI last season to lead the ball club. He announced after a 63-98 season in 2018 he did not want to sign a long-term deal with Miami and wanted to play for another team this coming year.
