Sunday’s series finale against the beaten-and-battered New York Mets was one brimming with storylines.
Former Marlin Jordan Yamamoto, recently recalled by the Mets, made his first career start against his former team. Between 2019-2020, Yamamoto posted a 6.20 ERA over 90 innings pitched with Miami.
In his return to loanDepot Park, Yamamoto allowed 5 runs (4 earned) over 4 innings pitched, walking and striking out 2, respectively. All of the runs allowed at the hands of Yamamoto came in the 2nd inning, though the right-hander would settle in to pitch a scoreless 3rd and 4th before exiting with right shoulder soreness after 73 pitches.
