MIA 3, WSH 6; Bullpen Blows Lead in Marlins’ Fourth Straight Loss

It was definitely an improvement over Monday’s catastrophic 18-1 loss to the Washington Nationals, but that isn’t saying much. The Marlins bullpen blew another lead after Trevor Rogers had his shortest outing since May 19 as the Miami dropped to 15 games below .500.

Following his All-Star Game appearance last Tuesday in which he gave up zero earned runs in one inning, Rogers was limited to an 85-pitch limit. In his five innings of work, he gave up two runs on five hits and two walks.

Rogers said he used that game and short break for a reset, both physically mentally after finishing the first half with what he called one of his “worst outings.
