The Marlins didn’t come out smelling like roses in the first game of the “Sewage Series.”
By dropping a 2-1 decision on Monday to the Dodgers, the last-place Marlins lost their fifth straight and fell to a record of 5-17, equaling the worst start in franchise history.
Dodgers officials offered discounted tickets to their three-game series with the Marlins as an apology to fans for a sewage spill that forced the cancellation of an end-of-spring exhibition game with the Angels.
The stench is gone at Dodger Stadium. At least it is in its rawest form.
