A potential deal between the Marlins and Los Angeles Dodgers may be picking up more steam as the two teams continue to negotiate terms and players involved, including catcher J.T. Realmuto. It now appears the Marlins have eyes on Dodgers catching prospect Keibert Ruiz as part of the package.
Joe Frisaro of MLB.com continues to report the two sides are still talking, but no deal has been reached. The Marlins begin Spring Training on Feb. 13 when pitchers and catcher report to the team’s facility in Jupiter, Florida.
“Miami has had on-and-off dialogue with the Dodgers for most of the offseason for Realmuto, and five other teams are said to still be in the mix for the All-Star catcher: the Rays, Padres, Astros, Braves and Reds,” Frisaro writes.
