Major League Baseball announced Friday that Hall of Famer Tony Perez and former Marlin Jeff Conine have both been named official ambassadors for the upcoming MLB All-Star Game that will be held in Miami on July 11 at Marlins Park.
Both will be involved in numerous events generating awareness for the 88th annual event and make appearances at festivities locally throughout All-Star week.
Perez, a seven-time All-Star who was also the MVP of the 1967 All-Star Game with the Reds, has been involved with the Marlins throughout their 25 years of existence, once briefly managed the team, and is in his 16th year as a Special Assistant to the President.
