The Marlins now have two top draft picks on the mend from Tommy John surgery.
One year after hard-throwing right-hander Tyler Kolek underwent the procedure, lefty pitcher Braxton Garrett followed suit.
According to sources, Garrett -- the seventh overall pick in the 2016 draft -- was scheduled to undergo the surgery Tuesday in Pensacola, with Dr. James Andrews performing the procedure.
Garrett did not pitch at all after being drafted last summer and made only four starts this year for them at Low-A Greensboro before landing on the disabled list. The typical recovery time for pitchers undergoing elbow ligament replacement surgery is 12-14 months.
