With the news that Garrett Cooper could once again spend a considerable amount of time on the shelf, the Miami Marlins have purchased the contract of Magneuris Sierra to fill the void on the 25-man roster. Sierra, who has been at Triple-A New Orleans since the beginning of the season, could be yet another outfielder of the future for this franchise.
According to MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro, “The organization’s No. 6 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will be recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday. The 22-year-old, who already is on the 40-man roster, will fill the void left after an MRI revealed Cooper has a right wrist sprain.
