The Marlins, reportedly still in the market for a right-handed hitter, are interested in free agent outfielder Jeff Francoeur, according to FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman.
Though the Marlins seem to also be discussing carrying an extra reliever, the club’s interest in Francoeur could reflect Miami’s questions with regard to Justin Bour’s ability to hit against left-handed pitchers. Bour has consistently hit in the mid-to-low .200s against lefties in his career, and Francoeur could emerge as a first base option.
