Garrett Cooper can’t catch a break. The outfielder has spent more time on the Injured List than he has since becoming part of the Marlins organization last offseason. His most recent stint away from the team is because of the hand injury he suffered last week after returning from Jupiter while on a rehab assignment. The team recalled Peter O’Brien from Triple-A New Orleans.
O’Brien accounted for the two runs the Marlins scored in the 9-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves at Marlins Park Saturday night.
Per MLB.com, “The club initially hoped Cooper would avoid the IL after receiving word X-rays on his hand came back negative.
