ST. PETERSBURG (CBSMiami/AP) — The Miami Marlins announced something on Tuesday that most people have known for a while already.
Miami right fielder Giancarlo Stanton has been shut down for the rest of the season due to a wrist injury.
Marlins manager Dan Jennings made the announcement before Tuesday night’s game at Tampa Bay.
Stanton has been sidelined since June 26 with a broken left wrist. He is expected to be ready for spring training next year.
“It will be a good offseason, he’ll be back ready,” Jennings said. “There’s no thought of, that hey perhaps he won’t be ready or any of that.
