Marlins Lewis Brinson To Begin Rehab Assignment In Minors

The Miami Marlins announced Lewis Brinson would begin Tuesday, wherever he is assigned. Brinson, who started Opening Day in center field, has been on the disabled list with a hip injury since July 4.

The news is good for the Marlins, who could use some of Brinson’s pop. He had 10 home runs and 30 RBI before being placed on the disabled list. His batting average at the time of the injury was only .186, but he had made progress at the plate, being more patient with pitches.

“Acquired from the Brewers as part of the Christian Yelich trade, Brinson is regarded as a core player of the Marlins’ future,” Joe Frisaro of MLB.
