Marlins’ J.T. Realmuto Requests A Trade

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – By the time the calendar turns to 2018, the Miami Marlins roster could be virtually unrecognizable.

CEO Derek Jeter and new ownership have already traded away Giancarlo Stanton, Dee Gordon, and Marcell Ozuna. The future for Christian Yelich is still uncertain, and now, catcher J.T. Realmuto reportedly wants out.

Sirius XM host Craig Mish was the first to report:

Realmuto is just 27 years old and is under team control until 2020. His salary last year was just $562,000. He hit 17 homers and recorded 65 RBI in the 2017 season.

While Realmuto would be a nice, inexpensive piece for the Marlins to keep during their rebuilding phase, they might view him as a commodity that could get them several quality prospects in return.
