The Marlins lost a lot of their pop when they traded Giancarlo Stanton, Marcell Ozuna and Christian Yelich. But in hiring Chip Bowers, a top executive for the Golden State Warriors, they’re hoping to add some muscle in their efforts to boost revenue.
Bowers has been named the Marlins’ president of baseball operations. Bowers will report directly to Marlins CEO and part-owner Derek Jeter.
“Our goal is operate a first-class organization with first-class individuals,” Jeter said in a statement issued by the Marlins. “Chip brings an immense breadth of experience, working in outstanding organization which have achieved success both on and off the field or court of play.
