When your team is down and almost out, the thought of making a comeback sometimes seems a bit of a reach. The Miami Marlins, however, continued to scratch and claw their way back after a10-1 deficit, only to fall to the Philadelphia Phillies 12-9 at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday night.
Instead of writing about how the organization could not muster runs and were mowed down by Philadelphia pitchers, the lineup, led by a late charge from Curtis Granderson, showed life that was a little too late to develop.
The lineup finished with 17 hits on the night, but the comeback came up too late.
