The run of stingy outings by their starting pitchers ended for the Marlins on Monday.
The winning didn’t.
Dan Straily’s pitching return was no thing of beauty, but the Marlins still prevailed 8-4 over the Phillies to give them their first three-game winning streak.
The Marlins ended a difficult April by winning five of their past six.
Brian Anderson drove in four runs on three hits, including a two-run blast off the Home Run Sculpture in the eighth that gave the Marlins a cushion. He also made a diving, run-saving catch in right, where he was making only his third start after spending all his time at third base.
