Marlins close to trading Brad Ziegler to Diamondbacks

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic tweets that the Diamondbacks have emerged from a crowded field and are nearing a trade for veteran reliever Brad Ziegler.

SiriusXM’s Craig Mish reported that Ziegler was traded Tuesday morning ahead of the 2018 MLB non-waiver trade deadline. Both Joe Frisaro and Mark Feinsand of MLB.com were quick to clarify that he will be traded in the afternoon, but it has not officially happened yet.

Zieger owns a 3.98 ERA/4.59 FIP/3.53 xFIP this season in a National League-leading 53 appearances. His 74.0 percent ground ball rate is easily the highest among qualified relievers, and that has been on the rise lately.
