MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — The Miami Marlins are hoping that getting a key player back from injury will help turn things around.
Marlins opening day starter Henderson Alvarez has been activated from the disabled list to start Sunday’s game against Atlanta.
Alvarez had been sidelined since April 12 with right shoulder and elbow inflammation.
The Marlins designed right-hander Nick Masset for assignment. He was 0-0 with a 1.86 ERA in eight games of relief.
