LOS ANGELES (CBSMiami) — The Miami Marlins have acquired left-handed pitcher Chris Reed from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for lefty Grant Dayton.
Reed has swapped time between Triple-A Oklahoma City and Double-A Tulsa, compiling a 2-2 record to go with a 5.97 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 24 games. The Dodgers selected Reed, 25, in the first round of the 2011 first-year player draft.
Entering this season, Reed was rated the 10th overall prospect in the Dodgers system by Baseball America. He was a successful college closer for Stanford and had pitched mostly as a starter during his professional career but was moved back to the bullpen this year.
