Heading home with momentum, Marlins beat Phillies, 6-3

The Marlins recovered from the previous night’s embarrassment and ended a four-game skid with a 6-3 victory over the Phillies on Sunday afternoon to avoid a series sweep.

Rookie third baseman Brian Anderson came up with the clutch hit in the eighth inning, as he broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run double to give the Marlins the lead for good. Catcher Bryan Holaday added an insurance run later in the inning, when he drove in Anderson on an RBI single to put the Marlins up 6-3.

Former Cubs pitcher and Cy Young Award winner Jake Arrieta made his long-awaited debut for the Phils, but the Marlins were quick to spoil his first start.
