SAN DIEGO (AP) — Miami’s Dan Haren has had to pitch before with trade rumors swirling around him.
But the veteran pitcher refused to use it as an excuse after allowing home runs to Matt Kemp, Yonder Alonso and Brett Wallace in the San Diego Padres’ 3-1 victory over the Marlins on Friday night.
Wallace hit his first homer with San Diego leading off the fourth to tie the game at 1-all. Alonso and Kemp hit back-to-back homers in the fifth to make it 3-1.
“It was very frustrating,” Haren said. “The Alonzo pitch I was OK with.
