The Marlins weren’t planning to call up Christopher Bostick to the majors as of Monday morning.
When Bostick landed in Atlanta a few hours later, circumstances had changed in his favor.
Around 2:30 p.m., Bostick was sitting at a gate at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport waiting for a flight that would take him to meet up with the New Orleans Baby Cakes, the Marlins’ Triple A affiliate, in time for a game in Memphis.
Then his phone rang.
