MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — The Miami Marlins turned to their ace in hopes that he would help the team bounce back from two straight blown lead losses.
Jose Fernandez pitched well enough to overcome a teammate’s home run that was negated due to a baserunning blunder, and the Marlins beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-1 Monday night.
Fernandez (4-2) allowed four hits and pitched around four walks in seven shutout innings, his longest start this season. He improved to 20-1 at Marlins Park.
With the game scoreless in the second inning, a home run by J.T. Realmuto was negated when he passed teammate Marcell Ozuna after rounding first base, costing Miami a run.
