VIERA (CBSMiami/AP) — One of the Miami Marlins’ young stars looked good on Monday while the other missed the game due to an injury scare.

Jose Fernandez pitched two hitless innings for the Marlins in his spring training debut Monday, a 7-4 loss to the Washington Nationals.

Slugger Giancarlo Stanton didn’t travel with the team to Viera due to soreness in his right knee. The injury isn’t thought to be serious.

The 2013 NL Rookie of the Year, Fernandez struck out one and walked one, throwing 34 pitches.
