Former Diamondbacks general manager Dave Stewart has joined Tagg Romney’s group that is hoping to purchase the Marlins, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. Stewart joins a group that already includes former major league pitcher Tom Glavine.
The executive spoke only on the condition of anonymity since Romney has not publicly announced the addition of Stewart to his group, but Major League Baseball officials have been informed that Stewart is among the new investors.
Romney’s team and a group led by Jeb Bush and former Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter are among the groups hoping to buy the franchise from owner Jeffrey Loria.
