MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Atlanta Braves have signed former Miami Marlins relief pitcher Nick Masset, according to multiple reports.
Masset was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Saturday and elected to become a free agent after clearing waivers.
The Braves’ bullpen has been solid so far this season which is a stark contrast from the struggles seen in Miami.
That begs the question of why a team with a strong bullpen would sign someone who wasn’t good enough to remain in a struggling ‘pen like what the Marlins have been dealing with.
In seven relief appearances this season, Masset has allowed three runs (two earned) on 11 hits while striking out five and walking one in 8.
