MIAMI (CBSMiami) – More information has been made available about the tragic death of one of South Florida’s favorite sports stars.
Almost exactly one month after a boating accident took the life of Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez and two of his friends, a search warrant affidavit says that all three bodies had a strong odor of alcohol when their bodies were recovered by divers.
Toxicology tests for all three men have been completed but the results have yet to be released by state investigators.
They are citing an exemption in the public records law for open criminal investigations, though it’s unclear what, if any, charges could be brought in the case.
