25-year Marliniversary: Liván Hernández makes big-league debut in win over Braves

Throughout their 29-year history, the Florida/Miami Marlins have had plenty of postseason heroes. One of the best stories for the club made his debut 25 years ago today.

A Cuban defector, Liván Hernández, would collect two World Series wins as a rookie in 1997 and go on to be named the series MVP as the Florida Marlins took down the Cleveland Indians in seven games. His big-league debut came more than a year prior in a 12-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

At Joe Robbie Stadium on Sept. 24, 1996, the Marlins wasted no time taking control of the contest.
