The Marlins have not been particularly loyal to their players through the years—everybody eventually gets traded or unceremoniously released, or if they’re fortunate, makes it to free agency and winds up going to a higher bidder elsewhere. As a result, there’s been a diaspora of former Fish. Nearly every other MLB team employs at least one Old Friend.
At the All-Star break, I’m taking this opportunity to highlight familiar faces who had success during the first half of the 2021 season. The team construction mirrors that of a normal MLB active roster: 26 selections evenly split between position players and pitchers.
