The Miami Marlins are expected to be sellers at the trade deadline, and there are plenty of rumors swirling around the club. Here are three things you need to know:
Marlins trade Steve Cishek to Cardinals
The Marlins have traded righty Steve Cishek to St. Louis for Double-A righty Kyle Barraclough, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald. The Cardinals will take on the remainder of the $6.65 million left on Cishek’s contract this year, MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro tweets.
The 29-year-old Cishek had established himself as one of the game’s most reliable late-inning arms prior to a rough start to this season, putting up a 2.70 ERA with 10.0 K/9 against 3.2 BB/9 and 91 saves in 253.1 innings.
Miami to deal Dan Haren - for the right price
Marlins ace Dan Haren is one of the hottest names on the trade market, and while Miami has shown a willingness to trade him, they will only sell him for what they feel is a fair deal. According to MLB Trade Rumors, the Marlins have "rebuffed at least one club that asked for money to be sent along with him."
Yankees showing interest in Mat Latos
New York has shown some interest in Marlins righty Mat Latos, according to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com. New York has a need to add rotation depth at the deadline, and join a growing list of clubs that want to take a chance on Latos’s resurgence and past success.
