Miami Marlins All-Star second baseman Dee Gordon has been suspended 80 games for using PEDs, the MLB announced on Thursday night. Gordon has struggled early on this season, batting just .267 with 12 runs and six stolen bases in 20 games.
The Los Angeles Dodgers traded Gordon to Miami before the 2015 season, and went on to enjoy a career year with his new ball club. The fleet-footed infielder was the NL batting champion and won both the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove awards. He also led the league in stolen bases for the second-straight season.
The morning after the suspension was announced, both the Marlins and Dee Gordon released statements on the suspension.
