Just mere moments after the Miami Marlins escaped being no hit by the skin of their teeth, the team announced the firing of manager Mike Redmond. In addition to Redmond, the Marlins have also parted ways with bench coach Rob Leary.
Redmond led the team to a 15-game improvement in the win column in 2014, as the team ascended from a 100-loss season in 2013 to a respectable 77-win campaign.
However, the team's offensive woes and major inconsistencies have bit them in the midst of a disappointing start to 2015. A team who was pegged by many to be a NL Wild Card contender is currently sitting one game out of the cellar in the NL East at 16-22.
