We're less than three weeks away from the 2015 MLB trade deadline, which means there are plenty of rumors swirling around the Miami Marlins and what they might do on the trade market. Here are three trades they could make at the deadline:
Trade Dan Haren to Rangers for prospects
Miami isn't expected to hold a firesale at the deadline, but moving one of their most appealing trade pieces in Haren could be on the horizon.
Marlins manager Dan Jennings said on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM that Dan Haren has been drawing interest and is “certainly someone teams have been asking about.”
Texas is in the market to add another pitcher, but are expected to miss on top targets Johnny Cueto and Cole Hamels. If they do, Haren is someone in the second-tier they could go after.
Trade Ichiro to Mariners for prospects
Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times thinks that Ichiro could be a good fit for the Mariners, adding some defensive help to the outfield and some on-base ability to their struggling lineup. Seattle's front office hasn't said publicly that they're interested in bringing Ichiro back to Seattle, but expect rumors to heat up as the trade deadline draws closer.
This move makes sense for Miami, getting rid of one of their older players for some young talent since they are completely out of the playoff picture.
