There were times during the offseason when it was discussed, sometimes even at length. How couldn’t it be?

The Miami Hurricanes know they put together one of the best seasons in recent memory and made school history last year. For the first time, they won the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Coastal Division title, something that had eluded them for years. They earned a spot in the conference championship game and ascended as high as No. 2 in the College Football Playoff rankings.

And then they closed the year with three straight losses.
