Will the Miami Hurricanes' new offense remain this run-heavy?

MIAMI GARDENS — The debut of offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee’s up-tempo spread scheme for the Miami Hurricanes on Thursday night was surprising in one regard and played out as anticipated in another.

The fast-paced attack saw UM run 78 plays, which is on par with what Lashlee did leading SMU’s offense last season, averaging 79.8 plays per game, which ranked second in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

It’s how Lashlee split those play calls between run and pass that was unexpected. He has preached balance in the offense all offseason, but many would’ve predicted that meant running more often to catch up to the number of pass plays.
