Versatility, consistency helping Harris shine for 'Canes

It’s been an eye-opening few weeks for Hurricanes rush end Trent Harris.

Before Miami’s game against Clemson, he’d never played middle linebacker. Before last Saturday’s game against Virginia, he’d never been asked to play three different spots in one series.

But with the Hurricanes’ linebacking corps thinned because of serious injuries to Darrion Owens, Marques Gayot and Raphael Kirby, Miami coaches have had to get creative. And Harris, a sophomore the Hurricanes call ‘Toolbox Trent’ for his versatility and consistency, has been willing to do his part.
