Thousands of excited, squealing elementary schoolchildren were at the Watsco Center on Thursday for a rare morning game between the University of Miami women’s basketball team and fourth-ranked Louisville. The kids brought homemade posters for their favorite Hurricane players, and cheered their hearts out, but the Cardinals proved too much to handle.
Louisville beat UM 84-74 on the shoulders of senior forward Myisha Hines-Allen, who poured in 26 points on 11-of-13 shooting and had a game-high 11 rebounds. She became the second player in program history to surpass 1,000 career rebounds. Forward Sam Fuehring added 17 points for the Cards.
