And so, a new streak of producing first round draft picks has begun for the Miami Hurricanes.
Cornerback Artie Burns, who in December announced he was bypassing his senior year to enter the NFL draft, was taken with the 25th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night, his selection marking the second straight year a Hurricane has been taken in the draft’s opening night.
Last year, left tackle Ereck Flowers was taken ninth overall by the Giants, becoming the first Hurricane drafted in the first round since Kenny Phillips was selected by the Giants 31st overall in 2008.
