Miami slugger David Thompson leads the nation in both RBIa and home runs. Now the Hurricanes will have to wait to see if their third baseman will be back in the lineup next year.
Thompson became the second Miami player taken in baseball's 2015 first-year player draft, going to the New York Mets in the fourth round (119th overall) on Tuesday afternoon. Hurricanes pitcher Andy Suarez was taken late Monday night in the second round by the San Francisco Giants.
Now, Thompson – like Suarez – will have to decide whether to play professionally or return to school.
