The 2000 and 2002 Miami football teams were named two of the best to not win a national championship by Bill Bender of The Sporting News. Both the 2000 and 2002 Hurricanes were denied national championships because of controversy. The 2000 Miami team finished 0.32 points behind Florida State in the BCS standings.
